This class introduces the programming environment and the Linux command-line to children in second grade and higher.
Students learn to use a Raspberry Pi and learn to program Minecraft using the Python programming language. They learn keyboarding skills and how to navigate within a Linux terminal.
For those less familiar with Minecraft - it is gaming equivalent of Legos.
The main goal of the class is to introduce students to a real development environment. They learn how to write new code, how to run and how to debug it. Students get first-hand experience of how text-based programming and mathematics can solve Minecraft-world problems.
Children love this class as they get to play a lot of Minecraft with each other on a network while they learn. No prior programming knowledge is required.
